Design, Print, Repeat 2/2: Make a Phone Holder — 3D Printing for Beginners

Second session of the two-part 3D printing workshop for beginners. You’ll assemble the complete project — your personalized name tag from day one becomes part of the phone holder! Through hands-on work, you’ll see how model orientation, supports, and basic settings affect print quality. This session continues the series and builds on knowledge from the previous day.

About This Workshop

Learning through practice

In the first workshop, you designed a personalized name tag. Between workshops, Miloš printed your name tags and prepared the phone holder components. In the second workshop, you assemble the complete project — your name tag becomes a functional part of the phone holder!

Through hands-on work, you’ll see how model orientation and basic settings affect the quality and success of printing. You’ll learn deeper 3D design principles: supports, orientation, and how all of this affects the functionality of the final product.

What will you learn on day 2?

  • How to connect the appearance of the finished object with preparation decisions
  • How to choose orientation and when to use supports
  • How to integrate different parts into a functional product
  • Advanced CAD thinking: from individual parts to a complete project
  • How to prepare more complex models for printing and estimate duration

Why sign up?

  • You’ll see the complete flow from idea through individual components to a functional product
  • You’ll leave with a personalized phone holder that you designed yourself
  • You’ll gain clear rules for future 3D projects

Note About Printing

Depending on available time, phone holders may be printed during the workshop or after the session. If 3D printing takes longer than the workshop duration, we’ll arrange pickup as soon as possible.

About the Instructor

The workshop is led by Miloš Rašić, M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. With a focus on robotics and biotech, Miloš bridges the worlds of hardware and software to help participants understand the development process of advanced technological products. Through extensive experience working with industrial drones, robotic systems, and telemedicine, he demonstrates how engineering theory translates into functional innovations and successful startup projects.
