Have you ever seen or heard neural impulses? Did you know that our bodies constantly communicate through electrical signals—from neurons carrying our thoughts to muscles moving our bodies? Have you ever wondered what it feels like to control someone—or to be under someone else’s control? In this workshop, you’ll step into the exciting world of the body’s electrical signals, neural communication, and motor control using devices designed by Backyard Brains scientists.
The workshop is led by Aleksa Vasić, Biologist (MSc). As a science popularizer, Aleksa combines biology, neuroscience, and technology to make modern scientific discoveries accessible to everyone. Through practical demonstrations, he shows how the electrical signals that control our bodies can be observed, measured, and interpreted using simple devices.
Participants will have the opportunity to measure and analyze their own bioelectrical signals, “listen” to how neurons communicate, and experience how one person can trigger another person’s muscle using an electrical impulse. Through a series of short experiments, you’ll learn how physiological signals are turned into data, how scientists record and interpret them, and how biology and engineering intertwine in a fascinating story of the human body as a system under voltage.
This workshop offers a blend of neuroscience, biology, and engineering in an accessible, engaging, and hands-on format. It’s ideal for anyone who wants to experience science firsthand and discover just how electric our bodies truly are.
