How Blood Pressure Monitors Work

A workshop designed to give you a hands-on understanding of how blood pressure monitors work. You will explore the basics of measurement, digital technologies, and biosignal devices, learning not only how but also why these devices function.

About This Workshop

From Cuff to Algorithm

You’ll learn what blood pressure is and how it is measured traditionally. Then, you’ll discover how digital monitors capture and process data using sensors and algorithms. This section provides a clear view of the journey from physical measurement to numerical results.

Inside the Open-Source Device

Miloš Rašić, a master’s graduate in electrical engineering specializing in robotics and biotechnology, will present his device developed as part of his master’s research. You’ll learn how the device collects multiple signals – cuff pressure, ECG, PPG, and stethoscope audio – and how this data can be used for algorithm testing and analysis.

Mechanics, Electronics, and Software

Take a closer look at the design of Miloš’s device and see how the mechanical, electronic, and software components are interconnected. You’ll learn how all parts work together to enable accurate measurements and provide flexibility for research. This section highlights how an interdisciplinary approach creates new possibilities in medical technology.

Who This Workshop is For

The workshop is designed for students and young professionals aged 25 to 35 who want a hands-on insight into modern medical technology. It is ideal for anyone interested in understanding how everyday medical devices are built and how they can contribute to their development.

Hands-On Experiments With Your Own Mind
October 22, 2025 — 16:00–18:00

What if you could feel your brain constructing reality in real time? In this hands-on workshop, you’ll step inside the strange illusions that reveal how consciousness works. Using only simple tools, we’ll trick the brain into believing your nose is growing, show how your body map can be bent and stretched, and explore online experiments that prove we unconsciously sense eye gaze as a real force. By the end, you won’t just understand the science of consciousness — you’ll have experienced it yourself.
