Draw, Prepare, Print: A Practical 3D Design Workshop

An introduction to 3D printing doesn’t have to be abstract or complicated. This workshop guides you into the world of digital modeling through the most enjoyable example possible: creating your own New Year’s ornament. It offers a hands-on, visually engaging entry point into a technology that blends creativity and engineering, designed to quickly prepare you for independent work.

About This Workshop

Your design in your own hands:

In the world of software, results often stay trapped on the screen, but 3D printing provides the unique satisfaction of materialization. Here, you cross the boundary between virtual and physical: you will start from an empty workspace in Fusion 360 and arrive at the moment when your object begins to grow, layer by layer, right before your eyes. There is no better way to master this technology than by watching your idea become a tangible object.

What will you learn?

  • Basics of CAD modeling (Fusion 360): Using the workspace and tools to create models (a snowflake, a wavy form, or a personalized ornament).
  • Print preparation (Slicer): How a model is “cut” into layers, how to set parameters, and how to optimize printing time.
  • Working with a 3D printer: Calibration, loading filament, and monitoring the printing process in real time.
  • Advanced techniques: Introduction to filament types, support structures, and fast vase-mode printing.
  • Final project: You will design and print your own New Year’s ornament.

Why sign up?

  • Independence: You will learn enough to continue modeling and printing at home, even if you are a complete beginner.
  • Live demonstration: You will see how a professionally tuned printer operates and gain insight into finished engineering models.
  • A concrete result: You leave with a unique ornament and a new skill in digital fabrication.

About the instructor

The workshop is led by Miloš Rašić, M.Sc. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. With a focus on robotics and biotech, Miloš bridges the worlds of hardware and software to help participants understand how advanced technological products are developed. Through extensive experience working with industrial drones, robotic systems, and telemedicine, he demonstrates how engineering theory transforms into functional innovations and successful startup ventures.
