How Do We Stimulate the Brain and Measure Its Response

Brain on electricity? No, on magnet!
Have you ever wondered how a magnet can influence the brain and trigger changes in its activity?
In this interactive workshop, participants will discover the principles of non-invasive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) and learn how the brain’s responses can be measured in real time.

About This Workshop

About the Instructor and the Project

The workshop is led by Milorad Dragić, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Biology in Belgrade and head of the CEREBRO project. The CEREBRO team investigates the application of non-invasive magnetic brain stimulation and its effects on neurochemical processes and neuroinflammation, aiming to advance understanding of nervous system functions and develop modern neuroscience experiments.

Introduction to Magnetic Stimulation

The workshop covers the fundamental principles of TMS, explaining how magnetic pulses affect neurons and how these signals propagate through brain networks. Participants will learn how modern methods allow the study and modulation of brain activity and how theoretical knowledge is applied in practice.

Practical Demonstration and Experiments

Through interactive examples, participants will observe brain stimulation in real time and understand how different parameters of magnetic pulses influence nervous system responses. The demonstrations provide a hands-on experience of applying scientific principles in neuroscience.

Why Join?

This workshop is ideal for anyone interested in exploring how magnets can modulate the brain, with no prior knowledge required. Participants will gain insight into modern neuroscience methods and scientific experiments developed by the CEREBRO team at the Faculty of Biology through practical exercises and demonstrations.
